100% full rustic antique oak old original

The beams and boards that are reclaimed to become flooring are all unique in their own ways. But for most of these planks the rich and heavy character gets milled out of them to leave a smoother plank. Except for one floor, our antique oak old original.

Old original flooring leaves in the wood what the others have taken out and that is character without comparison. The floor has the look and feel of one that has been walked on for a century or more.

The plank face of this reclaimed foor is left largely alone by the mill leaving it with all the saw kerf it came with originally. The planks will have what is called high and low spots meaning the plank faces will be somewhat but not terribly uneven. This is the natural character of this reclaimed beauty.

The wood in this instance comes from the outer cuts of the beams and boards. These outer cuts have experienced more direct sunlight or UV and so end up much darker than most other reclaimed species. As the image above shows there will be planks that are almost completely black.

While this space is more country rustic old original flooring works superbly with modern decor as well. The aesthetic strength of the wood demands to be offset by varying textures and sheens. Modern art, modern appliances will end up a compliment to the aged wood.
