The cleanest cut of reclaimed oak

In the world of reclaimed oaks you have choices that go from rustic light to medieval barn floors with the exception of one. Antique remilled oak. This floor is the perhaps the cleanest and lightest antique oak floor we sell.

The reason that this cut of reclaimed oak is so much lighter than its brethren speaks to how the mill cuts up old beams and boards. If you picture an old beam from the end imagine the outer cuts as being the most rustic, as in our antique oak old original reclaimed wood. The antique oak old original is very dark and just overflowing with character.

The antique oak old original has had the most direct exposure to sunlight over the course of its life as a beam or board and so has absorbed the most UV rays and thus a darker look. The next cut is our antique oak highlands plank. Slightly less rustic but still very dark and textured.

Still has very dark planks, almost black in color. Again this cut has been heavily exposed to sunlight. Now we move on to the next cut of reclaimed oak, antique distressed grade reclaimed oak.

Notice the planks are becoming lighter in color and there is significantly less texture and lack of black planks. We are moving our way through the beam and the light exposure is lessening slowly. This now leads us to our antique oak remilled grade.

Quite a difference wouldn't you agree? There is no surface texture here and the overall color and tone are much, much lighter. I love this installation picture as it shows the true versatility of antique reclaimed wood. The interior design of this home very contemporary yet it goes perfectly with the warm tones of this reclaimed floor.
