White oak wins the day everytime
It is the universal flooring that loves all stains, all widths and character grades, good old white oak. This customer in New Jersey was a victim of hurrican Sandy and was very apprehensive about making the right choice to fix up their devastated flooring. We worked through lots of options and lots of choices but we landed in the best place possible, white oak.
Beautiful. A simple finish on a beautiful floor. The warmth radiating from the wood gives the room an ambience that really sets the stage for the interior design.
It's all about the light in any given room. This image shows the floor looking slightly darker but still offsetting the antiques in the room perfectly.
Running the planks long wise creates a nice visual effect in the hallway. The boards get to show off the grain variations, knot and character content perfectly.
Note how the homeowner used wood trim to compliment the wood flooring. Subtle details here make all the difference. I have always argued that wood goes with wood.
